AUSTRALIA produced 10.2 million hectoliters of wine in 2024.
NEW ZEALAND produced 2.8 million hectoliters of wine in 2024. It’s shaping up to be an extraordinary year, and people are very excited. A warm, dry summer and cooler-than-average fall created near-perfect ripening conditions. Disease pressure was low, and acidity was high. Despite slightly lower-than-average yield volumes, each region is expected to deliver absolute classics.
📍 Africa & Asia
Emerging markets in Africa and Asia bring fresh perspectives to the industry.
SOUTH AFRICA produced 8.8 million hectoliters of wine in 2024. An early season with challenges still likely produced some high-quality wines. Severe flooding in September damaged vineyards in the Western Cape, but a dry, warm, and windy spring and summer followed, helping to ease conditions. Coastal regions saw low yields but high quality. Inland areas faced droughts. Despite these various issues, winemakers still expect a strong year for great, acidic, concentrated wines.
China does not have production estimates for 2024 yet.
