My Wine Review & Notes:
Oh boy. The Casal Garcia Vinho Verde was my first ever “green wine,” and I feel very lucky to have gotten introduced to it by one of my friends with strong Portuguese heritage. I didn’t know a thing about it before my friend Kevin brought me a bottle and told me how they all used to drink it.
It was good, very good. In some ways Vinho Verdes are sort of flag-bearing standards of white wine, but they’re unique in a lot of ways too. I tasted the crisp freshness of this one, and just a little bit of fizz up front.
It was inoffensive and certainly not complex, but had a very full taste, with a light texture. Easily drinkable–very easily drinkable. Notes of bright green fruit continued to develop even more as I got used to the taste.
This would be the first “green wine” of many. Thank you Kevin!
