Meerlust
Meerlust is an historic South African wine estate in the Stellenbosch region, renowned for its long-standing commitment to quality and elegance. Established in 1756, it remains family-owned, with eight generations having shaped its legacy. The estate’s name, meaning “pleasure of the sea,” reflects its unique location near False Bay, where cool sea breezes moderate the region’s warm climate. This maritime influence, combined with Stellenbosch’s rich soils, creates the perfect conditions for crafting exceptional wines.
Meerlust is celebrated for its Bordeaux-style blends, particularly the flagship “Rubicon,” a harmonious marriage of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. Known for its complexity and age-worthiness, Rubicon has become synonymous with South Africa’s fine wine reputation. Beyond blends, the estate also excels with varietals like Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
